The Masses Joined In Red And White Move To Hope That Immanuel Ebenezer Will Not Be Given A Place In Any BUMN

JAKARTA - The removal of Immanuel Ebenezer (Noel) as an independent commissioner of PT Mega Eltra, a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), is still the concern of several parties. One of them, Red and White Moves.

Although the shareholders have been removed through the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS), it is feared that Immanuel will be re-appointed as a commissioner in another BUMN subsidiary. This fear was conveyed by Merah Putih Bergerak through a demonstration in front of the Ministry of SOEs building, this Thursday afternoon.

The mass protestors asked SOE Minister Erick Thohir not to appoint Immanuel as a high-ranking member of the SOE subsidiary. The coordination of the Red and White Movement action, Marlin Bato said that his party had submitted the demands for the mass action directly to the Ministry of SOEs.

On that occasion, his party received official news from the Ministry of SOEs that Immanuel Ebenezer had been removed as Mega Eltra's independent commissioner.

"As of today, we have received confirmation that an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders has been held that Immanuel has been removed. Today we came directly and this has been explained," said Marlin to reporters at the location of the action, Thursday, March 14.

Marlin claims the mass action demands have strong reasons. This is because Noel was accused of supporting the terrorism defendant, Munarman, when he was an expert witness in the trial of the terrorism crime case at the East Jakarta Court, 23 February.

In the trial case, Noel's position as an expert witness contradicted the position he was holding at that time, namely as a senior SOE. This argument is based on Law no. 19 of 2003 concerning SOEs and the SE Minister of SOEs Number 15/MBU/XI/2021.

In the SE it is expressly stated that a state official is prohibited from being a sympathizer or member, providing direct or indirect support that leads to acts of terrorism. It is also emphasized in point 2 that every BUMN is obliged to prevent and take action on the potential for the development of radicalism.

"He confirmed the press on behalf of Jokowi's volunteers, then he was attached as a commissioner of BUMN, so that's what prompted us to take action and urged Erick Thohir to immediately remove Immanuel," he said.

Marlin considered the dismissal to be part of the clean-up of SOEs from individuals affiliated with terrorism. The mass of action also asked the Ministry of SOEs to be responsible for not giving Immanuel a place in any SOEs.
