DPR Member Persuades Luhut To Withdraw The Haris And Fatia Case Report, Observer: Luhut Will Not Cancel, Prestige, Already Has A Wet Shower All At Once
JAKARTA - Political observer Rocky Gerung said the case of defamation with the suspects of two human rights activists Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiayati will continue.
Rocky conveyed that there was a request by a member of Commission III of the DPR from the Nasdem faction, Taufik Basari, to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to withdraw the report on the case.
"Mr. Luhut will not cancel, it's just a matter of prestige. It's already "wet", so let's take a shower," he said on his YouTube account Rocky Gerung Official, quoted Wednesday, March 23. Rocky said Haris and Fatia as human rights activists were different from Luhut, who sat as public officials close to the authorities. Therefore, Taufik Basari took the initiative to persuade Luhut to withdraw his report.
"Haris and Fatia are powerless, while Pak Luhut is powerful," said Rocky.
He reminded Luhut and the police to consider the proposal of Taufik Basari, who has a background as a lawyer and often defends the community before the law. According to Rocky, the request could be a middle way to prevent vertical conflict.
"Usuan Taufik Basari (Tobas) is a wise suggestion as a person who has been in the LBH (Legal Aid Institute) environment," said
"Tobas is [also] considered a politician who has intellectual insight, has an understanding of just and civilized humanity, so that's the voice that the police and anyone who tries to criminalize Haris' brother should pay attention to," said Rocky.
Separately, Luhut's attorney, Juniver Girsang, stated that he had not considered withdrawing his client's report on the defamation case with the suspects Haris and Fatia.
He said that the revocation of the report or the peaceful process would not be carried out because his party had tried as much as possible to find a way out even though it still failed. "Yes, how do we withdraw the report, it has already been processed. We respect this legal process," said Juniver, Tuesday, March 22.
According to Juniver, his client as Coordinating Minister for Marves with many agendas still makes time for mediation. But apparently, he said, Haris Azhar and Fatia did not respect this opportunity.
"So then there is no good faith, okay. The efforts we have made are maximal, of course we are looking for justice where else if not in court," he said.
