There Is No Transparency, Ahmad Dhani Chooses To Leave WAMI And Manage His Own Song Royalties
JAKARTA - Musician Ahmad Dhani declared himself out of the LMK (Collective Management Institute) WAMI (Wahana Musik Indonesia). He will take care of the royalties for his songs and know the flow of his own funding.
"Starting today I will also send a letter to WAMI that I will withdraw from WAMI so that all of my songs are truly in my hands," said Ahmad Dhani.
According to him, he has never received transparency in the funding of his works. The founder of Dewa 19 admitted that he still receives royalties from his songs but he does not know how to calculate and the details of the money received.
"For example, if I was transferred Rp. 200 million, I don't know where it came from. I don't know and I can't be questioned either," said Ahmad Dhani.
In addition, he had a conflict with one of the private television stations that invited Ari Lasso, Andra Ramadhan, and Judika. They performed Dewa 19 songs without involving him.
"That's why I announce now that if there is a private TV or EO holding an event without my written approval, namely Ahmad Dhani, I will sue, I will charge it," explained Ahmad Dhani.
"So whoever sings my song, I reiterate. I don't want to be registered with WAMI and have permission to contact me," he continued.
This also applies to fellow musicians who want to sing Dewa 19's songs. They have to ask permission and pay royalties to Ahmad Dhani if they want to perform his songs.
“Including my friend Ari Lasso. For example, if you want to sing my song, you don't have to have Ari Lasso but the EO. Judika doesn't have to pay taxes, but Judika's EO has to pay me," said Ahmad Dhani.
