Having The Responsibility To Give The Best, Indonesia Targets The 2022 ASEAN Para Games Overall Winner

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Senny Marbun said Indonesia is targeting to become the overall champion at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games which will be held in Central Java, at the end of July 2022.

"Hopefully our target is, yes, we don't want to overtake God, but on paper we can count as the overall champion, because yesterday in Malaysia our grade was far above Malaysia and Thailand," said Senny Marbun after attending the Limited Preparatory Meeting. The 2022 ASEAN Para Games with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, quoted from Antara.

Senny said that Indonesia, as the host of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games, was responsible for being able to give and do the best in the event.

Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali said that the 2022 ASEAN Para Games had been agreed in Central Java covering Surakarta, Sukoharjo and Karanganyar.

The appointment of Central Java as the location of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games because there is a training center for paralympic athletes, and there is an Orthopedic Hospital Dr. Soeharso.

"There is Dr. Soeharso Hospital, we know the function of the hospital and besides that there is UNS, Sebelas Maret University, which is very supportive, especially for sport science," explained the Menpora.

In the 2022 ASEAN Para Games, 14 sports will be competed, namely athletics, swimming, badminton, weight lifting, table tennis, chess, CP football, blind judo, boccia, sitting volleyball, goalball, wheelchair tennis, archery, and wheelchair basketball.

The Minister of Youth and Sports said that all the sports competitions will be held in Central Java.
