Steal The Motorbike Of HKBP Simaremare Pastor, Man In Sibolga Arrested By Police After His Mother's Funeral
MEDAN - Police arrested the perpetrator of the motorcycle thief HKBP priest in Sibolga, North Sumatra, with the initials RLT.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at the Sibolga Police, through the Head of Public Relations AKP R Sormin, said that RLT was arrested on the report of a priest named Maslan Situmorang (49) who lost his motorbike.
"This incident occurred on Wednesday, March 9, at the HKBP Church complex in Simaremare Village. At that time the victim parked his motorbike in front of the house and held a meeting," said AKP Sormin, Tuesday, March 22.
Moments later, the victim's child, continued the police, met him in the meeting room. The victim's son reported that his father's motorbike had disappeared.
"After checking through CCTV, it appears that a man is pushing and carrying his motorbike. As a result of the perpetrator's actions, the victim lost around Rp. 8 million," he said.
Seeing that his motorbike was stolen by a thief, the victim immediately reported it to the Sibolga Police. The police also arrested the perpetrator.
"When the investigation was carried out, the perpetrator acted alone because he saw the motorcycle key hanging," said AKP Sormin.
AKP Sormin explained, the perpetrator's reckless action began when the perpetrator was carried by a friend on a motorbike. When crossing the HKBP Sibolga City church, the perpetrator saw his friend, surnamed Limbong, who worked as a flute player at the church.
"So he got off and walked towards the church and with his friends and had time to eat at the church. After that, the perpetrator went to the bathroom and saw the victim's motorbike with the ignition key hanging," said AKP Sormin.
Seeing this, the suspect's evil intentions arose. After observing the safe situation, the perpetrator then pushed the victim's motorbike and took it to Balige.
"In Balige, the perpetrator met the person who had bought a motorbike from him and sold it for R1 million. Then the perpetrator went to Pematangsiantar City to meet his mother who was being treated and the plan was to be referred to Medan City," continued AKP Sormin.
When he arrived at the hospital in Pematangsiantar, the suspect's mother had already died and was being taken to Sibolga. The perpetrator returned to Sibolga and to his house in Pandan.
"After the perpetrator's mother was buried on Sunday, March 13, she was secured at her house while sleeping and then taken to Balige. Arriving at Balige the motorbike that was being sold was found in a shop, but the person who bought it was not there," said AKP Sormin.
The perpetrator is currently being held at the Sibolga Police Station. He was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code.
