After Being Questioned By The KPK As A Witness For Alleged DAK Corruption, Romahurmuziy Kept Silent

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Romahurmuziy or Romy did not speak a word after completing his examination as a witness today, Tuesday, March 22.

He was questioned regarding allegations of corruption in the management of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in 2018. After being investigated at 10.30 WIB and finished around 12.00 WIB.

When leaving the lobby of the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, this former member of the DPR RI did not say anything.

Romy, who was wearing a white and blue striped jacket and a shirt of the same color, seemed to be walking fast. He did not answer all questions from the media about today's examination.

Previously, the KPK was investigating allegations of corruption in the management of the 2018 DAK.

This case is allegedly related to the case that ensnared the former Head of the Division of Funding Development for Housing and Settlement Areas at the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance of the Ministry of Finance, Yaya Purnomo.

Yaya has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison for being proven to have accepted bribes and gratuities related to the discussion of the Special DAK and Regional Incentive Funds in eight districts and cities.

Meanwhile, regarding the development of this alleged corruption, the KPK has not yet specified who was involved. Based on the policy of the anti-corruption commission leader in Firli Bahuri's era, the announcement will be made when the forced detention attempt is made.

Romy himself had previously been a suspect in a corruption case and was proven guilty in a case of buying and selling positions at the Ministry of Religion in mid-March 2019.

For this act, Romy was sentenced to two years in prison which was later reduced to one year in prison by the DKI High Court. He was later released on April 29, 2020.
