Promote 'Special Interest Tourism', Menparekraf Sandiaga Invites Automotive Communities Around Lombok

JAKARTA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, invites automotive community activists to ride motorbikes to enjoy tourism in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Not only the automotive community, the 30-person tour group was also attended by tourism village activists and journalistic workers.

"This program is part of Special Interest Tourism, so touring using motorbikes to tourist villages is an icon of our economic revival. We can see many homestays being filled and this is a new spirit," said Sandiaga, in his official statement, as reported by Antara, Saturday, March 19.

According to Sandiaga, the potential for special interest tourism in Lombok, NTB, is very large and deserves support from all parties. Therefore, through this tour entitled Famtrip Inspiring Village in Mandalika, Sandiaga hopes to further popularize the area which is a tourist destination.

One of the touring destinations this time is the tourist village of Tetebatu, in East Lombok Regency, which represents Indonesia at The Best Village UNWTO 2021.

Sandiaga explained that Tetebatu Village has a unique natural attraction and historical value for tourists. In addition, the tourist village of Tetebatu which is located at the foot of Mount Rinjani also has a variety of creative economic products and is known for its herbal plants.

"The hope is that as a super priority destination, Mandalika is not only built, but also alternative destinations that can be chosen by MotoGP viewers. Not only watching MotoGP but also enjoying tourist villages," said Sandiaga.

In addition to East Lombok, Sandiaga said Central Lombok Regency, NTB, also has special interest tourism potential that can be developed in the form of tourist villages scattered throughout the region with special attractions for tourists.

In addition, the development of special interest tourism which is closely related to the presence of tourist villages in Lombok is expected to be a locomotive for economic revival and job creation. Moreover, this activity coincided with the implementation of the international MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2022 in the Mandalika super priority destination in Central Lombok Regency.

"This is a new economic order in which tourist villages become the locomotive for the revival of sustainable tourism," said Sandiaga.
