Jokowi Estimates IKN Development To Take 15-20 Years
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the construction of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan would take a long time. The size of the area to the amount of infrastructure that will be done makes this project will take a long time.
"This is a very big job and it's also not an easy job. It's a complicated job. It will take a long time. Our estimate is that it will take 15-20 years to complete," Jokowi said in a YouTube video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, March 15.
Jokowi hopes that this step can already be started. Moreover, the IKN Authority has been formed with the election of Bambang Susantono-Dhony Rahajoe as its head and deputy.
"Institutions already exist, later a more detailed plan whether it's DED (detailed engineering design) and others will also be prepared so that it will be more visible," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.
Furthermore, Jokowi revealed that the construction of the Nusantara IKN would require a lot of money. In a temporary measure, the project will cost up to IDR 466 trillion, about 20 percent of which comes from the state budget (APBN).
While the rest can come from public private partnerships (PPP), cooperation between the government and business entities, as well as investments from the private sector, BUMN, public bonds, and others.
"This is once again a big job, a difficult job so collaboration, collaboration with the central government, regional governments, the private sector from BUMN, from the community and all components of this nation is needed," said Jokowi.
"So we can really maximize the existing support in order to accelerate the development of the Indonesian Capital City," he concluded.
