IKN Palace Is 80 Meters Above Sea Level, Jokowi: We Can See All Corners
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the location for the construction of the Presidential Palace in the National Capital Region (IKN) of the Archipelago will be built in the highlands.
"This is the point of the palace. This is the highest place above sea level, about 80 meters, it is the highest here," Jokowi said in a YouTube video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, March 15.
"So we can see the right and left corners," he added.
Jokowi explained that there are several plans that will be carried out at IKN Nusantara. Including to hold a commemoration ceremony on August 17 in 2024 at that location.
However, Jokowi does not want to speculate further about this plan. This is because everything is decided only when the results of the development have begun to be seen.
"The name is the plan, there are several ministers who will be submitted for later in 2024, (the ceremony, ed) August 17 will be held here. We'll see what it will look like if the palace and several ministries are finished or other facilities (already finished, ed) can be done. But we'll decide later," explained the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.
Furthermore, he had revealed that later IKN Nusantara would be built with the concept of a forest city. However, the plants used are industrial monicultures, so they can be cut every seven years.
In addition, the government will also build a nursery or nursery center that can produce 20 million plant seeds per year. "From there, we will plant it for forest rehabilitation at IKN Nusantara so that the plants are not conicultural, endemic, local plants that are able to attract birds to enter, butterflies enter," he explained.
"So what we really want to do is rehabilitate forests and reclaim existing ex-mining sites. Indeed, there are a lot of forests that have been encroached upon by the community and must be repaired and rehabilitated," concluded Jokowi.
