The Sukoharjo Terrorist Doctor's Aggression Leads To A Bullet From Detachment 88

JAKARTA - The suspect in the terrorism crime case, Sunardi, was killed during a series of arrests in Sukoharjo, Central Java. Densus 88 Anti-terror was forced to shoot him because he put up an aggressive fight.

Sunardi's aggressive resistance was carried out while trying to escape capture. He tried to hit the officer with the car he was driving.

"The suspect fought back very aggressively by crashing a car at the officers," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Friday, March 11.

The attempt to escape and the aggressive behavior of Sunardi, who was later discovered to be a doctor, began when he crossed Jalan Bekonang, Sukoharjo, Central Java, Wednesday, March 9.

At that time, it was night, the victorious Detachment 88 had determined Sunardi as a suspect and decided to arrest him.

Members of Densus 88 also tried to stop the vehicle by intercepting Sunardi. At this time, the suspect's aggressive resistance was carried out.

Sunardi tried to hit a member of Densus 88 with the car he was driving. In fact, driving irregularly with the aim of dropping members who are in the back of the car.

"The suspect continued to drive his car and drove fast and shook the steering wheel left and right or in a zigzag with the aim of bringing down officers," said Ramadhan.

Not only that, Sunardi also hit cars and motorbikes that were passing around the location of the arrest. Thus, his actions have endangered the public and officers.

"The suspect also hit a four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicle belonging to the community who was passing by, the officers took firm and measured action against the suspect SU," he said.

With the actions of Densus 88, Sunardi suffered gunshot wounds to his upper back and right hip. So, he who was helpless was immediately taken to the hospital by officers.

However, Sunardi could not be helped. The doctor breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

The decisive action taken by Densus 88 was questioned by a number of parties. There are those who think that Sunardi does not deserve firm action because he is still a suspected terrorist.

However, the National Police stated that Sunardi was not a suspected terrorist. Instead, he was a suspect.

"Before the arrests were made, they were suspects of criminal acts of terrorism, not suspects," said Ramadhan.

The determination of the suspect against the man from Sukoharjo was due to his involvement in a terrorist group. He is said to be a member of the terrorist network organization Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) as well as an adviser to the emir or group leader.

"Several involvements include being a member of the JI terrorist organization, the second serving as Amir Khidmat, the third deputy for da'wah and information, as an adviser to the emir of the JI terrorist organization, the person in charge of the Hilal Ahmar Society," said Ramadhan.

Forbidden Foundation

Hilal Ahmar Society is a prohibited foundation. Because, affiliated with the JI network.

The Hilal Ahmar Society Foundation was declared banned based on a decision by the Chairman of the Central Jakarta District Court in 2015. Because the foundation's activities are considered to support acts of terrorism.

One example is sending followers of the Foreign Terrorist Fighter (FTF) to Syria. Where, all the administrative and cost processes have been completed by the foundation.

"His job is to recruit, fund, and facilitate the journey of FTF followers to Syria," said Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, regarding the decision of members of Densus 88 to take decisive action, continued Ramadhan, it was in accordance with the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

Moreover, in Law number 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National Police and the Regulation of the National Police Chief (Perkap) number 1 of 2009 even the actions of members of the Densus are considered correct. Where, measurable decisive action can be taken if the suspect endangers the public and officers.

"Take firm and measured action on the grounds that the action was carried out because the suspect's actions have endangered or threatened the safety of the lives of the community and Polri officers," he said.

"This action is also in accordance with the National Police Chief Regulation number 8 of 2009 concerning the implementation of human rights principles and standards in carrying out Polri's duties," continued Ramadhan.
