Inaugurating The Sudirman Sudirman JPO That Can Be Passed By Bicycles, Anies Said The Condition Was Worrisome
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the revitalization of the pedestrian pedestrian bridge (JPO) and the Thematic Phinisi Karet Sudirman pedestrian bridge (JPS), Central Jakarta.
This JPO was initially revitalized by designing a design since 2019. Then, work began in April to December 2021 and was finally inaugurated today.
Anies said the revitalization was carried out because the existing condition of the JPO had previously suffered damage, weakened structure, and a dull appearance that made it unfit and unsafe to use.
"Before it was revitalized, the existence of this JPO was very concerning. With the weakness of the structure and the existing damage to parts such as the roof, damaged floors, narrow stairs, this JPO started construction in April 2021, starting with the demolition of the roof and stairs. The existing JPO continued to add structures new, as well as complete facilities," said Anies at the location, Thursday, March 10.
This bridge is also designed to be able to facilitate the public, including cyclists who pass on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to be able to cross. This is because previously, along Jalan Sudirman to Simpang Senayan, there were no roundabout facilities for bicycle users.
"With this pedestrian bridge, those who use bicycles as a means of transportation can have access in the middle to move from the West to the East or the East to the West," said Anies.
Anies said the JPO and JPS Karet Sudirman bridges were built with a modern concept. Then, it is equipped with a Phinisi Ship-themed platform and an appreciation gallery dedicated to remembering the struggles and sacrifices of medical personnel in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This JPO and JPS then become a place to express our respect, our appreciation for the medical personnel who have become our last line of defense, to save others," said Anies.
At the JPO and JPS Thematic Phinisi Karet Sudirman, there are lift facilities at the JPO which are intended for groups of people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women and bicycles. Other facilities include load sensors, CCTV, viewing platforms, as well as decorative and artistic lights (Futureistic RGB).
