Confirmed Failed To Reach Target, Coach Asks Persija To Complete The Rest Of The Season
JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta's target to finish this season's competition in the top three cannot be realized. For that, the coach asked the players to appear in total in the remaining matches.
"We want to get the maximum points from the last six matches, by playing full of totality," said Persija Sudirman coach in a virtual press conference after the match.
Macan Kemayoran's hopes of getting into the top three even further after they lost 1-2 to Bali United in the 29th week match which took place on Sunday, March 6 at Ngurah Rai Stadium, Denpasar.
The defeat against Bali United made the Kemayoran Tigers mathematically only be able to collect a maximum of 56 points. Which if calculated, that number would not be enough to overtake Arema FC who currently occupy the third position in the standings with a collection of 58 points from 29 matches.
Especially at this time, the Kemayoran Tigers squad has only collected 38 points from 28 matches and is in seventh position in the standings.
Seeing this situation, Sudirman asked his players to focus on the match in front of them one by one. According to Sudirman, Persija has the potential to realize this wish.
However, Riko Simanjuntak and his friends must maximize every opportunity and reduce unnecessary mistakes such as when they lost to Bali United.
"I played against Bali United, the game actually went well. However, we made small mistakes that the opponent used to counterattack and score goals," he said.
"We also have many opportunities that should be used better," continued Sudirman commenting on the game.
After this Persija is scheduled to play Borneo FC, Tira Persikabo, Madura United, PSM, Bhayangkara FC and PSS Sleman as the last match to close the season.
