Giant Carrion Flower Grows In Residents' Coffee Garden In Bener Meriah

BANDA ACEH - A large corpse flower was found thriving in the coffee garden of a resident in Wih Resap Village, Bandar District, Bener Meriah Regency.

The owner of the garden, Jamaludin, said that the rare plant was known to have started growing three weeks ago.

"Now it's more than three meters high," said Jamaluddin, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 3.

He said the carcass flower has a green color with black spots on the stem and a red color on the flower bud and emits an unpleasant odor typical of carrion flowers.

According to him, at the location of his garden, there are also several carrion flowers of the same type that still grow in small sizes.

"It's the same as this giant flower, but it's still small, I don't know what kind. It used to grow a lot but we cut it down right away because we thought it was a weed," said Jamaludin.
