Released At 06.30 This Is Angelina Sondakh's First Speech After 10 Years In Prison
JAKARTA - Former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Democratic Party Faction, Angelina Sondakh breathes free air after serving a 10-year sentence for being proven guilty of corrupt practices. She was released from the Pondok Bambu Jakarta Women's Prison today, Thursday, March 3 at around 06.30 WIB.
Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections (Directorate General of Corrections) Rika Aprianti said Angie, as Angelina Sondakh is known, had apologized and realized that her corrupt actions were not exemplary.
"She (Angelina Sondakh, ed) apologized to all Indonesian people for the actions that resulted in her having to be in prison for almost 10 years. And she said that her previous actions were not exemplary," said Rika in her written statement, Thursday, 3 March.
In addition, Rika said, Angie also had time to thank the ranks of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights as well as prison officials. "Angelina also took the time to say goodbye to her fellow inmates and leave a message that they should always be strong and patient," he said.
The process of releasing Angelina Sondakh has been carried out while still prioritizing health protocols. This activity was attended by the Head of the Correctional Division of the Kemenkumham DKI Jakarta, Marcelina.
After being released from this prison, Angie will then run a leave program before being released (CMB). This activity lasted for three months.
During this program, Angie will be a client of the Correctional Center and will undergo follow-up guidance at the Correctional Center for three months.
For information, Angie has been in prison since April 27, 2012. She was found guilty of being involved in a corruption case in the construction of the 2011 SEA Games Athlete House in Palembang.
For his actions, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million. Not only that, Angie was required to pay a replacement fee of Rp. 2.5 billion and US$ 1.2 million, a subsidiary for 4 months and 5 days.
