These People Are Pushing Muhaimin As Candidate For 2024, The Reason: The Governor Of DKI Jakarta Has Not Been Able To Provide Concrete Solutions
JAKARTA - The Bridge Item Merchants Association (P2JI) has declared support for PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar as a presidential candidate (Capres) in 2024.
"We express our support for Gus Muhaimin as President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024, for the relay to continue President Jokowi's leadership," said one of the declarators, Muhammad Zainuddin, quoted from Antara, Sunday, February 27.
P2JI is a community of traders selling on the sidewalks of the Jatinegara highway in Balimester Jatinegara Village, East Jakarta. The declaration was initiated by dozens of traders who hoped that their aspirations would reach Gus Muhaimin.
"We want the situation to return to normal, the economy to recover quickly and the fate of small traders throughout Jakarta, especially those selling their wares on sidewalks, to receive serious attention. Because until now the Governor of DKI Jakarta has not been able to provide concrete solutions," explained Zainuddin.
Zainuddin said the reason for supporting Gus Muhaimin to become President of Indonesia in 2024 was because he was the right person for the needs of the Indonesian people today when compared to other figures.
"Gus Muhaimin is a religious national figure who has experience across the political world, since the emergence of reforms that led his late uncle Gus Dur to become the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia," he explained.
He said the traders had high hopes for Gus Muhaimin to make policies that were pro-small people, as Gus Dur had done when he was president.
"We are also ready for dialogue to find solutions together. We are not only sidewalk traders, but there are many other communities who are ready to support Gus Muhaimin as President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024," he said.
Especially after experiencing the economic shock due to covid, many small traders have gone out of business and have become unemployed until now.
He said the traders hoped that the central government would provide adequate business capital, so that the economy of the middle and lower levels of society can be normal, prosperity can also be realized as shared expectations.
