President Jokowi Orders Booster Vaccines To Be Prioritized For The Elderly
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered that booster vaccine doses (booster) to deal with COVID-19 be prioritized for the elderly (elderly) group.
"Continue to continue with the first (vaccine), the second, then enter the third, prioritizing the elderly," said President Jokowi while reviewing the COVID-19 vaccination in Bitung City, which coincided with the implementation of vaccinations in 14 other cities/regencies in North Sulawesi. quoted by Antara from the statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Friday, February 25.
During the review, President Jokowi also had a dialogue via video conference with a number of regional representatives from districts/cities, as well as receiving reports on vaccination achievements from each region.
Jokowi appreciated a number of areas with high vaccination realization, one of which was in the City of Tomohon.
"Earlier, Tomohon, I thought the first, second, and third injections were good, and I hope that other cities and regencies will also be the same, if all of them are above 70 (percent), it's good," said the President.
The President hopes that all people in the country can take advantage of the vaccination program to protect themselves and relieve symptoms when exposed to the Corona virus.
"Even though those who have had the second injection, let alone the third one, are usually asymptomatic and mild, this is an existing experience," he said.
With the vaccination program, the President hopes that the level of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia can continue to be controlled.
"We hope that later with the first injection it will be high, the second injection will be high, then it will be strengthened with booster injections, booster injections, I think we hope that we can reduce and suppress those exposed to COVID-19," he said.
