RI - South Korea Are More Friendly, Government Offers PPnBM Incentives For Electric Vehicle Development

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is said to be strengthening cooperation with the South Korean government, especially in the manufacturing sector.

Recently, the Director General of Resilience, Territorial and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, Eko SACahyanto said, Indonesia is aiming at increasing strategic relations to encourage the development of national electric vehicles (EVs).

"The two countries agreed to increase cooperation, including research in the development of the new technology industrial sector," he said in an official statement, Friday, February 25.

According to Eko, the Indonesian government provides support in its development through Government Regulation No. 74 of 2021 concerning Taxable Goods Classified as Luxury in the Form of Motorized Vehicles Subject to Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM). For information, the PPnBM for electric cars for the 2022 period was decided to be borne by the government, aka 0 percent.

"The collaboration for the EV industry includes joint research in the field of the MicroEV vehicle market and its supporting components as well as preparing charging station infrastructure," continued Eko.

The increasingly intimate relationship between Indonesia and South Korea is the fruit of the 1st Ministerial Meeting of the RI-Korea Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation (JCEC RI-ROK) in Jakarta earlier this week.

The series of Ministerial Meetings was followed by a visit from the Delegation of the Republic of Korea accompanied by the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industries to the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia Factory in Cikarang, West Java.
