BATC Degree Makes Gregoria Have High Motivation At All England 2022
JAKARTA – Women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung has high motivation to go to All England 2022 after helping the women's team to win the title at the Badminton Asia Team Championship.
All England will be rolling on March 16-20 at the Utlita Arena Birmingham, Birmingham, England. Gregoria was the only representative sent by Indonesia to the BWF Super 1000 event.
"My motivation has increased after me and the team won the Team Asian Badminton Championships," said Gregoria in a statement received by VOI.
Gregoria's struggle at the All England will face a tough challenge from the first round. This is because he had to deal with rising star from South Korea, An Se Young, who was present as the fourth seed.
An Se Young is currently at the peak of her career. At the end of 2021, he even managed to win three titles at the same time at the Indonesia Badminton Festival which was held in Bali in November and December.
The badminton player, who is currently 21 years old, has won the Indonesia Open, Indonesia Masters and BWF World Tour Finals. Thus, Gregoria really had to fight extra if he didn't want to run aground in the first round.
"Honestly, I have a target when I meet An Se Young but I don't want to burden myself too much first. I want to focus on preparing as well as possible, training hard so that later there I can increase my confidence again," said Gregoria.
After helping the women's team to a title at the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships for the first time in the competition's history, Gregoria immediately prepared for the All England.
"Thank God I have started training again today after returning from Malaysia and undergoing quarantine. The training has also been normal, physically and technically. Hopefully in the remaining time before going to All England, my condition can improve and continue to improve," said Gregoria
The national badminton parent (PBSI) previously entered the name Putri Kusuma Wardani with Gregoria in the women's singles for this world's oldest championship. However, Putri was later withdrawn because she was on a waiting list.
