Vehicles Passing On 24 Jakarta Roads Will Be Investigated Emission Test
JAKARTA - The DKI Environment Agency, DKI Transportation Agency, and Polda Metro Jaya will hold a regulatory/legal compliance activity for motor vehicle emission tests on 24 roads in Jakarta.
However, the Head of the Environmental Pollution Handling Section of the DKI Environment Agency, Tiyana, admitted that his party would not inform at any time on the road sections where the vehicle emission inspection inspections would be carried out.
"The activity will be carried out on 24 roads during 2022. We deliberately do not announce which roads, later motorists will even avoid those roads," Tiyana said in a statement, Wednesday, February 23.
Tiyana said the inspection of the emission test was carried out to see the level of compliance of the motorized vehicle owners with the emission test.
This step was taken with the aim of increasing awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility in the community that owns motorized vehicles so as not to pollute the environment.
“Emission testing is a measurement of motor vehicle exhaust gases to detect the performance of a vehicle's engine. Emission tests are also useful for measuring the engine quality of each vehicle. By testing emissions, the levels of substances that are harmful or not good for the environment will be known,” he explained.
In its implementation, officers will guard 24 roads in Jakarta. Then, the vehicle was pulled aside by police officers and the Department of Transportation. Officers will check through the Four-Wheel Emission Test application for individual passenger cars, the Two-Wheel Emission Test e-Test application for motorcycles.
Vehicles that have carried out emission tests and are declared to have passed will be asked to continue their journey. Meanwhile, vehicles that have not yet carried out an emission test are directed to the emission test site provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency for further testing.
If declared passed, will be given the result of passing the test. Then, if it is declared that it does not pass the emission test, it will be reported to the police officer or the Transportation Service, then a warning will be given by the officer.
