"They lost in the first round. They are now, as I see it, starting the second round, scaring the whole world by saying we will attack Ukraine tomorrow, surround it, destroy it and so on," said Lukashenko.

"Although we did not have a plan (of this) when we discussed this issue," continued President Lukashenko.

Nevertheless, he said Russia and Belarus would continue to hold military exercises. Lukashenko said he attended joint military exercises between the two countries the day before.

"We will teach people to fight. There is no other way. I saw Russian and Belarusian units. There were a lot of foreigners. Very impressive," he said.

As the meeting closed, the Belarusian president thanked him for the opportunity to have face-to-face talks.

"Sanctions will be imposed in any case. Whether they have a reason today, for example, in connection with events in Ukraine, or there is no such reason, will be found, because the aim is different, in this case the goal is to slow down the development of Russia and Belarus, " said the Russian president

"With this aim in mind, there will always be reasons to impose certain illegitimate restrictions, and this is nothing more than unfair competition," he added.
