From February 1-17, A Total Of 213 COVID-19 Patients Were Buried At The Rorotan TPU, An Increase From Last Month

JAKARTA - There was a spike in the number of funerals with COVID-19 procedures at the Rorotan Public Cemetery (TPU), North Jakarta in February compared to last January.

It was recorded that from February 1 to 17, 2022, COVID-19 burials at the Rorotan TPU have reached 213 graves. Meanwhile, from January 1 to 31, there were only 40 COVID-19 funerals at the Rorotan TPU.

This increase was acknowledged by the Head of Rorotan Village, Idham Mugabe. Although the number of funerals has increased, Idham admitted that this number is still much lower than when the spike in cases was due to the Delta variant last year.

"Graphically, it is increasing, but not as bad as in the previous Delta variant. During the Delta wave it could be 230 per day (cemeteries). Right now, the highest procedure is 25 per day," said Idham in a short message, Friday, 18 February.

Until now, Idham admitted that the land at the Rorotan TPU can still accommodate the bodies of COVID-19 in the future.

Considering that currently there are only 6,388 grave plots filled out of a total of 25 hectares of land owned by the DKI Provincial Government.

"The capacity is still sufficient. When we finished wave 1 yesterday, we did a decrease in the graph, even to 0, no one was buried (in one day). We don't stop, we continue to prepare the land," said Idham.

Moreover, he continued, now people can bury the bodies of their relatives or family in any burial place. With a note, must use the COVID-19 protocol.

"There are also some who don't go to the Rorotan TPU. For example, if he has his own burial place where his family is buried, that can be. Waqf land can be used, or maybe there is another burial place, actually, with the COVID protocol," he explained.
