Submitting The Copyright Letter Of Mars-Hymn To KPK, Minister Yasonna Affirms The Process Is Less Than 10 Minutes Without Extortion
JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly emphasized that the current copyright registration process is faster and free from illegal levies (extortion). This was conveyed by Yasonna during the submission of the Mars Song Creation Record and the Corruption Eradication Commission Hymn, Thursday, February 17.
Yasonna explained, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has launched Automatic Approval for Copyright Registration or POP HC in early 2022.
In this system, the process of recording works only takes less than 10 minutes, this system is a development from the previous administrative system which was carried out within one day, and is an improvement from the previous system which was carried out within a period of nine months.
"This system improvement is in order to improve the Ministry of Law and Human Rights' services to the public," Yasonna said in an electronic message received in Jakarta, Thursday, February 17.
Yasonna said that was similar to the application process for the registration of the creation of Mars and the KPK Hymn created by Ardina Safitri Firli which was submitted on January 6, 2022. The process is completed in less than 10 minutes. "It is proven that the filing of an application for the registration of the KPK Mars Creation only takes three minutes, from 15:56 to 15:59," said Yasonna.
"Furthermore, the application for the recording of the KPK Hymn Creation will only take four minutes, from 15:39 to 15:43," continued the Head of the Legal, Human Rights and Legislation Division of the PDI-P DPP.
Due to this convenience, applicants for copyright registration using the POP HC system have experienced a drastic increase since its launch, from December 20, 2021 to February 15, 2022, 15,849 applications were recorded.
POP HC is a public service based on information technology, making it easier for the public to register their creations, so as to encourage the progress of science, art, and literature.
Yasonna revealed that public awareness of the importance of protecting intellectual works, especially Copyright, is getting higher. This can be seen in the statistics on filing copyright applications which are increasing from time to time.
"During 2021 we received 83,078 copyright records, an increase of 43 percent from 2020," said Yasonna.
“The increase in copyright applications cannot be separated from the use of information technology systems that are always developed by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The use of the system is also to ensure that there are no illegal fees that occur in the process,” continued Yasonna.
Legal protection of Copyrights is getting better day by day with services provided online, so that it is easier for the public and Ministries/Institutions to register their intellectual and creative works from anywhere and anytime via the internet.
"I and the staff of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights appreciate the KPK for registering creations from the creativity of their staff, this shows that awareness of the importance of protecting the results of creativity and innovation is not only found in the general public, but also in Ministries/Institutions to care about Intellectual Property for works. the work produced,” said Yasonna.
