Munguia's Smooth Road In The 72.5 Kg Middle Class Will Be Tested By Ballard

JAKARTA - The smooth path of Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia in the middle class (72.5 kg) will be tested. That will happen when he confronts D'Mitrius Ballard.

The duel of Munguia and Ballard will take place at the Plaza Monumental, Tijuana, Mexico, Saturday 19 February. They stepped into the ring to claim the WBO Inter-Continental middle division title.

Munguia's career in the 72.5 kg class so far is still running smoothly. He is unbeaten since deciding to move up the division from the previous junior middle (69.8kg) in 2020.

In the 72.5 kg class, Munguia has beaten four boxers. They are Gary O'Sullivan, Tureano Johnson, Kamil Szeremeta, and finally Gabriel Rosado.

The four wins extended Munguia's unbeaten run to 38 matches. The details are 30 wins of which he won by knockout (KO), while the other eight by unanimous decision.

Munguia, who was 25 years old in November 2020, has passed a tough test from Gabriel Rosado. That experience will be the capital to face Ballard who is unbeaten in 21 matches and only won one draw.

Erik “El Terrible” Morales who coached Munguia was so sure that his protege could win the match against Ballard. He said Munguia was very ready after undergoing many rounds of boxing training.

"He has improved, he is a more proactive fighter, he has more combinations, he learns faster to identify what he has to do or change at the moment what he has to do," said Morales.
