Impact Of The Sexual Violence Case Of Former Stepfather, Kak Seto Encourages Jakarta Residents To Form A Child Protection Section

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Agency Seto Mulyadi or Kak Seto wants North Jakarta residents to form a child protection section at the neighborhood level (RT).

The child practitioner assessed that the existence of a child protection section at the RT level could prevent violence against children in North Jakarta.

"So we have conveyed to the Police Chief, the need to mobilize community participation to form a child protection section at the RT level. The RT also has concern, so it's not only after sexual violence against children occurs, then we will be busy. But also preventive measures, "said Seto during a visit to the house of a child victim of sexual violence at Rusunawa Nagrak Tower 12 Cilincing, North Jakarta, Antara, Monday, February 14.

According to Seto, the support of those closest to him and not reminding him of the events experienced by the victims are very important for the child's recovery process. In the future, Seto hopes that the public can be more sensitive to the potential for sexual violence that occurs in the environment because this crime has the potential to come from close people.

"Everyone must agree on the iceberg phenomenon that all residents must be aware of and ask for community participation," said Seto.

On this occasion, North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Wibowo was also present to provide support and maximize trauma recovery for victims.

"We focus on recovery, providing support, especially regarding the child's psychology, so that the child can rise again and can eliminate the past that has been experienced," said Wibowo.

Previously, North Jakarta Metro Police personnel arrested a suspect in sexual violence against a minor as well as the victim's former stepfather with the initials IN (50).

Officers arrested the suspect IN on Tuesday last week, and is currently being handled by the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

Wibowo said that based on the post-mortem results, the suspect IN was proven to have sexually assaulted his former stepdaughter.

"It's been more than once. We have proven that with the post-mortem, it is proven, there has been sexual violence against children," said Wibowo.
