Yogyakarta Facilitates Food Aid For Self-Isolating Residents

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has again facilitated food assistance for residents who have been declared exposed to COVID-19 and are self-isolating at home based on recommendations from the kelurahan.

“The local government allocates food aid for self-isolated residents. But what will determine is according to the verification from friends from the task force in the kelurahan," said Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 14.

According to Heroe, due to the fast-paced nature of COVID-19 transmission, on average, all family members are usually exposed at the same time.

However, he continued, most of the patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in Yogyakarta City, 87 percent, did not show any symptoms or only experienced mild symptoms.

"So not everyone gets help. It depends on the recommendation from the task force in the village," he said.

The food assistance provided is fast food twice a day to patients undergoing self-isolation and residents who are in close contact.

The food assistance was met by culinary groups who were included in the Yogyakarta City Government's Collaborative Carrying Program.

As of Sunday, February 13, in the city of Yogyakarta, there were more than 1,400 active cases which could be categorized into several groups, namely close contact with patients at home about 325 cases, travelers with 110 cases, tourists with 11 cases, face-to-face learning examinations three cases and 560 cases. the case is still being investigated.

Heroe estimates that the increase in cases will continue to occur in the next two weeks and asks the public to be really disciplined in carrying out health protocols as an effort to reduce the potential for transmission.

Despite the increase in cases, Heroe said that there are no urban villages in the city of Yogyakarta that are included in the red zone even though currently there is not a single village in the green zone.

“The status of urban village zones in Yogyakarta is dominated by yellow and orange. All RT-based PPKM Command Posts are asked to actively assist in preventing transmission in their respective areas," he said.

Meanwhile, based on data from the RT Micro PPKM Command Post, spread over 2,535 RTs, it is known that 2,231 RTs are still in the green zone or there is no infection, 302 RTs are in the yellow zone, two RTs are in the orange zone and no RT is in the red zone.
