With Only A Bottle Of Water And Snacks, This Mother Leaves Her 3 Year Old Baby To Be Able To Date For A Week

JAKARTA - The death of Noa, a 3-year-old baby in an apartment in the Ota Ward area, caused a commotion in Japan. Noa's life was wasted due to being abandoned for a whole week by her mother who went out on a date.

A Tokyo court has sentenced Saki Kakehashi (26 years old) to eight years in prison -- 3 years lighter than the prosecutor's demand -- for eight years. The woman was found guilty by the court on February 9 last, quoted from the Asahi Shimbun, Friday February 11.

This heartbreaking incident occurred in June last year. From June 5 to June 13, 2021, Kakehashi went to meet his girlfriend in Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu, southern Japan.

Noa, her baby was left in the bedroom with makeshift supplies. Just a bottle of water and snacks for a 3 year old.

Before leaving, Saki Kakehashi still had time to put the sofa at the bedroom door to prevent the girl from leaving the bedroom.

"I thought it would be dangerous if she (Noa) entered the kitchen," Saki Kakehashi told police upon arrest.

When they finished dating and returned home, Saki Kakehashi found Noa unconscious. It's not something strange, actually considering that Noa is only 3 years old who can't do anything.

"A priceless life has been lost by the (accused's) heinous and selfish crime," Presiding Judge Kiichi Hiraide said in his ruling.

Saki Kakehashi's Dark Past

There are many stories when the trial was held. It is also revealed that Saki Kakehashi had a very bad experience when she was little.

When he was in elementary school, his parents once stabbed him with a knife and buried his head under water in a bathtub. He had also been tied up in a garbage bag and left for days without eating.

Kakehashi said his parents were eventually arrested on suspicion of neglecting parenting.

Satoru Nishizawa, a clinical psychology professor at Yamanashi Prefectural University who testified in court in Grandpaashi's defense, spoke about the case.

He said that one of the reasons for his behavior was because he did not receive therapy early on to deal with his own trauma due to being abused when he was growing up.

As a result, she said she was “thirst for love” when she was placed in a child welfare center after experiencing abuse by her parents.

Nishizawa said he calculated that about 30 percent of child abuse victims end up committing the abuse themselves.

It is also revealed that this is not the first time Noa has been left behind by Saki Kakehashi for more than a day. May last year, Saki Kakehashi once left Noa alone for four days.

Especially if not dating too.

"There are no words to describe the suffering and pain this girl went through when her body started to weaken and she couldn't get the help from her mother that she so desperately needed," a court ruling said.
