The Indonesian Badminton Team Can't Wait To Compete In The 2022 BATC
JAKARTA – The Indonesian badminton team can't wait to compete in the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships (BATC). They want to quickly end the quarantine and return to training in preparation.
The Indonesian athlete arrived in Malaysia on Monday, February 7 evening. They immediately undergo quarantine for five days following the rules that apply there.
"Yes, I can see that the children can't wait to be able to train and compete. They want the quarantine period to end soon and they can practice as usual," said team manager Harry Hartono in a written statement received.
Until now, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and her friends are still in the hotel room. They will be allowed to carry on with their normal activities after waiting for the results of the second test carried out on Friday, February 11, to come out.
In the second test, the players just waited for the officers to take samples in their respective rooms. Players from other participating countries, such as Japan, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong, also underwent a similar test.
If the results of this second test are negative, all Indonesian players will be allowed to leave the quarantine hotel at Sunway Clio and move to hotel officials at the Sunway Pyramid Hotel, which is still in the same area.
"I also can't wait to be able to practice and get out of this quarantine. Hopefully all the PCR test results are negative, so I can train to be ready to compete," said badminton player Yeremia Erick Yoche Yacob Rambitan.
All players on the Indonesian team previously tested negative when they received the results of the first test on Wednesday, February 9. Those are the results of the PCR test taken on the night of arrival on Monday, February 7th, at the Sunway Clio Hotel, Selangor.
Even though they are still in quarantine, the players continue to eat the portion of the training provided by the physical trainers Yansen Alpine and Ari Subarkah. However, the scope of the exercise is very limited because it is done in a hotel room.
Harry said that in general the coaching team had discussed the match schedule. However, his party has not developed a detailed strategy and preparation of player materials.
"Maybe a day or two before the match, the focus is on preparing players and strategies. So far we haven't seen how the condition of each player is," said Harry.
The team championship will be held at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, 15-20 February 2022. The Indonesian men's team is in Group A with India, South Korea and Hong Kong, while the women's team is in Group Z with South Korea, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan. .
