TomTom Traffic Index: Jakarta Congestion Decreases, Now Ranks 46 Most Congested Cities In The World
JAKARTA - GPS device company, Tomtom, released the results of a survey of congestion in a number of cities in the world by 2021. As a result, congestion in Jakarta is said to have decreased from the previous year.
Judging from the official website, the presentation of Tomtom Traffic Index data states that currently Jakarta is ranked 46th out of a total of 404 cities in 2021.
Meanwhile, in 2020, Jakarta is ranked 31st as the most congested city in the world.
In 2021, a decrease in congestion levels will be seen in Jakarta. The data shows the average travel time is reduced by 2 minutes per day.
Meanwhile, the congestion rate in Jakarta in 2021 is 34 percent. This means that the average travel time is 34 percent longer than the initial condition without traffic jams.
It was stated that the congestion rate in Jakarta was reduced by 2 percent from 2020 and 19 percent from 2019.
Looking back, Jakarta was once included in the top 10 most congested cities in the world. Jakarta was ranked 4th most congested city in 2017, then ranked 4th in 2018.
For information, the first rank of the most congested city in the world is Istanbul, Turkey with a congestion rate of 62 percent. Second place is Moscow, Russia with 61 percent congestion rate and third place is Kyiv, Ukraine with 56 percent.
