African Cup Of Nations Is Complete, Mohamed Salah Is Ready To Defend Liverpool Against Leicester
JAKARTA - Mohamed Salah apparently doesn't want to take a long break from the club after he has finished helping the Egyptian national team in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Salah is ready to return to defend Liverpool fighting in various competitions.
Salah has been absent for almost a month for the Reds, that's because he has an important task to defend his country's national team in the Africa Cup of Nations. However, Salah's efforts and hard work for a whole month was lost after the Egyptian national team was defeated by Senegal in the final.
Not only losing on penalties, the reality became even more bitter because in that party Salah was also defeated by his teammate, Sadio Mane, who appeared to defend the Senegal national team. With great disappointment, Salah could have asked for a longer rest period.
But he failed to do that, instead of being sad that Salah chose to return to the club as soon as possible after the final was over. Salah has even been seen following a training session with Liverpool at the AXA Training Centre, on Tuesday, February 8, local time.
Not only attending training, Salah claims he is also ready to play when Liverpool host Leicester at Anfield on Friday, February 11 in the morning WIB.
"Mo (Salah) is back, I've spoken to him. Of course he's very disappointed (over the African Cup of Nations result) but he also can't wait to get back into action with the club," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, quoted from the club's official website.
"I've spoken to him and the first thing Mo said to me was: 'I'm ready to play'. Haha!," continued Klopp.
Liverpool certainly hopes that Salah can channel his disappointment in the African Cup of Nations final through a slick performance against Leicester. Because, Liverpool need three points to maintain competition with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League standings.
In addition, Salah also has a mission to add goals to perpetuate his position on the top list of the Premier League's top scorers. Currently, Salah has scored 16 goals, six goals ahead of his Liverpool partner Diogo Jota.
Regarding the condition of the player after appearing in the African Cup of Nations, Klopp said Salah was in good condition. But in the training session, Salah still got a menu to restore his body, which was definitely tired.
"He's an experienced player, he has a physique like a monster, to be honest we have to see his condition first. He's definitely had a bit of a recovery session today and we'll see how he's doing tomorrow, then we can confirm what he's like," he said.
Although Klopp has confirmed Salah's presence at Liverpool, the opposite has come from Sadio Mane. Klopp has not been able to give much news because Mane has not yet joined the Reds.
"Yes, of course (Salah) has the opportunity to play against Leicester. Sadio can't because he's not here yet, but Mo can," concluded Jurgen Klopp.
