Pursuing 23 Percent Renewable Energy Mix By 2025, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Asks PLN And The Private Sector To Work Hard
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that the implementation of the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for New and Renewable Energy Generators will run according to the set targets. That way, the target of the NRE mix of 23 percent can be achieved in 2025.
It was noted that until the end of 2021 the renewable energy mix reached 11.5 percent of the total national energy.
"There is still a difference of 11.5 percent that must be achieved in the next four years. During this period, PLN and the private sector will work hard to reach 10 Giga Watt (GW) until 2025," said the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE). ) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana in a written statement, Wednesday, February 9.
Dadan ensured that the target had been monitored together with the State Electricity Company (Persero). "We together with PLN ensure that the COD points are still appropriate. We have a joint team to monitor this," said Dadan.
Furthermore, within five years or 2030, it is targeted that the NRE mix will reach 20.9 GW. This figure is in accordance with the PLN 2021 - 2030 electricity supply business plan (RUPTL).
Achieving this target anticipates increasing electricity consumption in the future. Dadan believes that Indonesia's electricity consumption will slowly increase following other countries in Southeast Asia.
"Speaking of electricity consumption, the figure is still low, below what we see in neighboring Malaysia, for example, three times ours. This is a potential for the future, Indonesia will still grow faster and require more electricity. This oversupply from PLN is temporary. I see it, even PLN, I think seeing that we will pass these times and gradually how the EBT can increase," he explained.
According to him, one of the government's focuses on the issue of the energy mix is the utilization of renewable energy potential so that it can reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The involvement of the private sector in supporting PLN is also considered important as part of achieving the target of the EBT mix. In 2021, the government has succeeded in adding 600 MW of NRE generating capacity. Meanwhile, in 2022 there will be around 700 MW to enter the PLN system.
