Loss Of So-called Crowd Free Night Could Prevent Crowds

JAKARTA - Cases of transmission of COVID-19 continue to increase every day. Various ways have been done to reduce the rate of its spread.

Polda Metro Jaya had implemented a Crowd Free Night (CFN) scheme to prevent crowds. Where, the crowd is one of the factors for the transmission of COVID-19.

The Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran said that the CFN scheme would continue to be implemented. Because, in the spread of the second wave of COVID-19, this scheme is considered effective in suppressing community mobility.

The CFN scheme is carried out by closing certain areas that are prone to crowds. This scheme is also valid from 00.00 WIB to 04.00 WIB.

"So to take preventive measures, we are holding a Crowd Free night," said Fadil at the Jakarta City Hall, Monday, February 7.

Moreover, based on data, one of the causes of the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta is the habit of young people who like to gather.

"We have carried out crowd control after looking at the daily data. Indeed, most of the people hanging out are young people and the daily cases based on age are mostly young people," said Inspector General Fadil.

This two-star general will also implement the CFN scheme until there is a decrease in COVID-19 cases. Where, it is known that Jakarta has entered PPKM Level 3.

"Until it slopes (the application of CFN, ed)," said Fadil.

Adding that the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said the CFN scheme was implemented at 10 points. The area to be implemented by CFN is a location prone to crowds.

The areas implemented by CFN include Sudirman-MH Thamrin, Asia Africa, Ginawarman - Senopati - Suryo, SCBD, and the Kemang area.

Then, the CFN scheme was also implemented in the Monas area throughout Medan Merdeka, the Old City area, Pantai Indah Kapuk, the Sunter area, and the East Flood Canal.

In fact, previously there was a plan for the CFN scheme to be implemented every day. Where, previously only on weekends.

"What is usually Saturday and Sunday nights is only in Sudirman Thamrin, starting last night we carried out at 10 points and every night," said Sambodo.

A day later, the decision to apply CFN as a precautionary measure to the addition of COVID-19 cases changed. Polda Metro Jaya decided not to implement the scheme.

In fact, the CFN scheme has been implemented since February 5. In fact, cases of the spread of COVID-19, especially in Jakarta, are going crazy.

"Regarding the implementation of Crowd Free Night, which took effect on the 5th, starting today, we will eliminate the 10 points that have been held," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan.

One of the reasons for the abolition of the CFN scheme in breaking up crowds is because the community is considered to have been disciplined in implementing health protocols. Thus, there is no need to apply the scheme anymore.

"We do this considering that the community has also begun to be disciplined, so we take more gentle steps," said Zulpan.

However, Polda Metro will take other steps. Such as holding patrols while providing education to the community on a regular basis. "Polda Metro Jaya will continue to carry out patrol activities and also provide education to the public regarding the importance of obeying the prokes," said Zulpan.
