COVID-19 Task Force Closes Garut Square Preventing Crowds Of People Amid The Omicron Craze
GARUT - The Garut Regency COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas), West Java closed the Alun-alun area in the Regency capital to prevent crowds of people who were worried about accelerating the transmission of COVID-19.
"Yes, it is true that the Garut Square has been closed since yesterday," said Yeni Yunita, Public Relations Officer of the Garut Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 7.
He said, the Garut Square area, which is in the urban center, has always been crowded with people since it was inaugurated at the end of January 2022.
The crowd in one area, he said, was finally dispersed by joint officers and elements of regional leadership, and then closed to the public.
"After the inauguration, the square was visited by a lot of people and there was a lot of crowd," Yeni continued.
Meanwhile, the development of COVID-19 cases in Garut Regency is currently increasing, so it is the government's attention to prevent and break the transmission of the virus.
If the Alun-alun area is always crowded and there are crowds of people, Yeni is worried that the COVID-19 outbreak will spread and the cases will continue to increase uncontrollably.
"The development of Garut has also increased, it is feared from the crowd that COVID-19 is increasing," he said.
Regarding the closing deadline, Yeni said it could not be determined yet, what was clear was that her staff was trying to prevent crowds to stop the transmission of COVID-19 cases.
"The closure was carried out in an undetermined period of time," he said.
