PLN Turns Off Electricity In Pancoran To Daan Mogot, Which Is Affected By The Flood
JAKARTA - Floods have surrounded a number of areas in DKI Jakarta today. To anticipate unwanted events, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN was forced to turn off a number of electricity in the flood-affected areas.
"PLN will conduct a temporary blackout in the flood-affected areas for the sake of public safety in order to avoid the danger of electric currents," said General Manager of PLN Jakarta Main Distribution Unit Ikhsan Asaad in a release received on Wednesday, January 1.
Ikhsan explained that a number of areas that will experience temporary blackouts are in locations affected by flooding. Areas that will experience a blackout include Karet Pasar Baru Barat, Kedoya Utara, Tanjung Duren, Pancoran, Pejaten Timur and Jati Petamburan. Then Jalan (Jl) Kebon Jeruk Raya, Jl Raya Daan Mogot, Jl Swadarma Raya, Jl Pos Pengumben, Jl Sektor Ciledug and Jl Bangka Kemang.
In addition, there are also housing and complexes experiencing power outages. Some of them are Perum Billy Moon 3 Pondok Kelapa, Perum Taman Bougenville, Perum Pinewood Wibawamukti, Perum Taman Wiana Jatibening and complex teak bening. PLN has also turned off electricity at 724 substations in the area.
"We are also concerned about this disaster, we secure the electricity until it is ready to be turned on so that people can avoid electric shock," he continued.
Furthermore, Ikhsan appealed to people whose areas were flooded to turn off electricity independently. A blackout can be done by turning off the Meter Circuit Breaker (MCB), as well as unplugging electrical and electronic equipment to a safe place.
After the flood recedes, make sure all electronic equipment and electrical networks are dry. PLN also ensures all electricity distribution networks are dry and safe to distribute electrical energy.
"PLN and citizen representatives will later sign an official report on normalizing the flow of electricity if all electric devices from the residents and PLN sides are ready," added Ikhsan.
