Vocational Highest Contributor Of Unemployment In West Java, Ridwan Kamil Asks Schools To Adapt, Don't Be Rigid
JABAR - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil asked all vocational high schools (SMK) to adapt to the needs of the industrial sector so that they are no longer contributors to unemployment.
"SMK should not be rigid, the industry should move where we must follow," said Ridwan Kamil when inaugurating the Fisheries Agribusiness Student Practice Room (RPS) at SMKN 1 Mundu in Cirebon, Antara, Friday, February 4.
According to him, SMK graduates are currently the highest contributor to unemployment in West Java. For this reason, it is necessary to adapt to the needs of a developing industry.
Ridwan Kamil does not deny that industrial growth in Indonesia is currently showing progress.
Skills in SMK must be renewed, so that what the industry needs can be fulfilled by human resources (HR).
Moreover, said Ridwan Kamil, in the Rebana triangle area (Cirebon, Patimban, and Kertajati) there will be 13 industrial areas that can create 4 million job opportunities, for that there needs to be preparation of qualified human resources.
"There will be 4 million jobs in the Rebana area with 13 industrial cities (for that there needs to be human resource preparation)," he said.
Ridwan We also appreciate the steps taken by SMKN 1 Mundu, Cirebon Regency, which has prepared human resources by establishing a Fisheries Agribusiness Student Practice Room (RPS), and is expected to improve the skills of its graduates.
The RPS, said Ridwan Kamil, contains science and technology related to marine affairs, and this is a preparation from Cirebon to welcome the maritime economy. Because the Rebana area is also maritime based.
"So that at SMKN 1 Mundu Cirebon, future needs are prepared. Starting from food science, business management, technology, everything is gathered in this SMK. And we will multiply it in other SMKs to equip human resources who are ready to compete," he said.
