Indonesia Patriots Team Manager Promises Squad To Recover Soon From COVID-19
JAKARTA – Indonesia Patriot team manager Jamin Mattotoran promises his squad will recover soon from COVID-19. They are currently in good condition in isolation.
The Indonesia Patriots had to withdraw from the second series of the IBL this season due to some of their personnel being positive for the corona virus. They have not even played a single game since the second series rolled on January 29 last.
"We promise to recover soon and come back stronger for Indonesian basketball. Thank you for all the support, both from the community and from the Indonesian press," he said in a written statement.
As is known, the preparation of the Indonesian Patriots to appear in the second series in Bandung was disrupted due to exposure of 18 of their personnel. That number includes some players and personnel outside the players.
Positive players include Aldy Izzatur Rahman, Esha Lapian, Daniel Willian, Valentinus Wongso, Dame Diagne, Adam Faruq, M. Nabizar, Ali Bagir Wayarabi Alhadar, Victory Lobbu, AA Gede Agung Bagus and Serigne Modou Kane.
Meanwhile, the positive non-player personnel are head coach Milos Pejic, assistant coach Roland Robinson, assistant coach Ricky Gunawan, team manager Jamin Matotoran, Official Team Rony Rahmat, Guntur, and Renny.
"As the team manager, I apologize to PERBASI and IBL, as well as the community, we could not avoid this disaster," said Jamin.
Despite being attacked by COVID-19, the current condition of the Indonesian Patriots team is in good condition. All players are now asymptomatic and maintain their diet and regularly receive vitamins.
Jamin said that currently his team is still focused on recovery. In addition, routine monitoring is also carried out and there are plans to carry out independent PCR in the next two to three days.
"Thank you for the support and attention of the entire Indonesian basketball community. We received so much support both by phone and WhatsApp," he said.
The surge in COVID-19 cases forced IBL to take a break for the second series. The organizers of the national basketball top tier postponed a series of matches between February 2-5 to await developments.
Apart from the Indonesia Patriots, the spread of COVID-19 has also spread to several players in other teams such as Satria Muda Pertamina, Dewa United, and Bumi Borneo. In addition, as many as five referees also tested positive.
