Positive Cases Of COVID-19 In Bekasi Regency Soared Sharply
BEKASI - The Bekasi District COVID-19 Handling Task Force, West Java, asked residents to be aware of the potential spread of the corona virus following a spike in active cases in the area in recent days.
Deputy Spokesperson for the Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Masrikoh said based on data from the local Health Service, the total daily active cases as of Sunday, January 30, yesterday had penetrated more than 1,000 cases.
"There has been an upward trend since the last 10 days, but yesterday it jumped sharply to reach 1,711 cases," said Masrikoh in Cikarang, as reported by Antara, Monday, January 31.
Masrikoh was reluctant to detail the number of daily increases in cases, but on Friday, January 21, the number of active cases was recorded at only 211.
"The spike in cases was influenced by the Nataru holiday yesterday. Because mobility is quite high," he said.
With this addition, he said, cumulatively, the number of COVID-19 cases in Bekasi Regency has reached 53,260 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with details of 51,002 people being declared cured, 547 patients dying, and 1,711 positive confirmed cases.
"The majority of the daily active cases are now self-isolating," he said. Meanwhile, the Bekasi City Health Service also recorded a similar increase from 89,770 cumulative cases as of Sunday, January 30 to 90,667 cases on Monday, an increase of 897 new cases in a day.
"The addition of new cases recorded on Monday was spread in a number of our areas, including 165 cases in Pekayon Jaya Village, 162 cases in Jatimakmur Village, 157 cases in Pejuang Village, and 158 other urban villages," said Head of Public Relations of the Bekasi City Secretariat, Sajekti. In accumulation, he said, as many as 90,667 residents of Bekasi City had been confirmed to have COVID-19, with details of 85,515 people or the equivalent of 94.32 percent having been declared cured, 1,139 people died, and 4,013 active cases spread across 56 urban villages.
"This is a common concern for us so that in the future active cases can be immediately lowered. I ask all residents of Bekasi City to be vigilant by continuing to be disciplined in applying strict procedures and following government recommendations," he said.
