Not All Cavities Must Be Extracted, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Dental and oral health is one of the things that needs attention. As the main route of entry of food and nutritional intake for the body, teeth have an important role. Dentist who specializes in tooth conservation at the University of Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), drg. Iffi Aprillia Soedjono, Sp.KG said that various dental conditions such as cut teeth, cavities, uneven teeth, and so on did not have to be treated with tooth extraction.

"Not all cases of tooth decay must be treated with tooth extraction. If the condition of the teeth can still be treated, the doctor will recommend treatment first," said Iffi, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, January 28.

Iffi explained, there are several things that can be used as indications for tooth extraction, including the crown of the tooth that cannot be repaired, the root of the tooth is broken and if treatment is carried out the results are not optimal, orthodontic reasons and wisdom teeth that grow sideways.

"In pulling teeth, it should not be too fast nor should it be too long to wait for the initial teeth to falter," he said.

According to Iffi, if a tooth is extracted too quickly, the tooth has a tendency to shift quickly. Meanwhile, when a tooth is extracted prematurely, the part of the tooth that has cavities will cause other teeth to shift to fill that part. Finally, when the tooth grows, the tooth has no place to come out.

It's different if you wait for the teeth to fall off, it will cause the teeth that should grow to grow backwards or forwards.

"To find out when the time is right for the extraction, you must consult a dentist," said Iffi.

Furthermore, in principle the doctor will advise the patient to undergo treatment first while considering various systemic factors.

In the case of the elderly who will perform tooth extraction and have systemic factors, the dentist will consult the relevant doctor. If it is not recommended for extraction, then treatment will be carried out and the tooth can be used normally.

Now, as many people care about maintaining healthy skin and teeth, various products and treatments have emerged to improve the condition of their skin and teeth. Iffi also suggests that you should consult a specialist first if you want to do a treatment because everyone has a different body condition so the treatment is also different.
