Experience User Growth In 2021, Epic Games Store Brings Many Updates
JAKARTA - Epic Games experienced growth last year in its online game store, the Epic Games Store, with more than 194 million users on personal computers (PCs).
In its Year In Review 2021 report, Epic is also preparing a new update for the Store that will be rolling out this year.
In addition to its high user count, the Epic Games Store has also reached a new peak in monthly active users. As of December last year, more than 194 million users were part of the platform, which is an increase of 34 million since 2020.
During the year-end, daily active users reached 31.1 million, with a concurrent peak of 13.2 million. Those users spent a total of $840 million on the Store during the year, a 20 percent increase from 2020.
Launching Neowin, Friday, January 28, from there, third-party games have seen more than 300 million US dollars, experiencing a 12 percent jump. Year-end holiday sales were also impressive, with more than 31 million people joining the event, buying 159 million items and a 14 percent increase on 2020 sales.
As expected, most of the 76 out of 89 free games given out in the store also set a concurrent user record on PC after the promotion. A total of 765 million copies of free games were claimed in 2021 by players.
Epic also detailed that its weekly offering of free games will continue into the year, which includes Daemon X Machina, and that next week's Yooka-Laylee and Impossible will come. According to company data, the games offered in 2021 are worth around $2,120 in total.
This year, the company plans to roll out a full-fledged player profile. This will give users a place to see things like their achievements and their playing time across all games.
Other upcoming updates include community polls, expanded library organization, download management and further adding of regions supported by Epic Wallet, and more.
