Gemini Free Personal AI Image Feature for US Users

Google is expanding access to the AI personal image creation feature in the Gemini app. Starting Monday, eligible users in the United States can use the Nano Banana-based feature for free.

Citing TechCrunch, Tuesday, June 30, this service was previously only available to Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.

The feature works through Personal Intelligence at Gemini. Google first announced support for creating Nano Banana-based images for this feature in April. With that ability, Gemini can create images that reflect the user's interests and preferences.

Users don't need to write commands too detailed. Gemini can understand what users like from their Google account connections, such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search.

For example, users don't need to write, "Make my illustrations and my favorite things, like coffee and making cakes." Just write, "Make my illustrations and my favorite things."

Gemini can also take photos of users from Google Photos. That way, users don't have to upload photos manually.

Google previously launched Personal Intelligence earlier this year. The feature is widely available to all users in the United States in March. Later, Google expanded it to users in India and Japan.

Personal Intelligence is opt-in. This means that users must choose to activate it. Users can also specify which applications Gemini can access.

Once activated, this feature becomes the default setting for every prompt. However, users can still turn it off via a new button in the Tools menu.

Google is also preparing a number of updates for the Gemini app. Last month, the company announced the Daily Brief feature, a new look, access to the Gemini Omni AI video model, as well as a personal AI agent named Gemini Spark.

Gemini is now one of Google's key products in the AI competition. The chatbot has surpassed 750 million monthly active users or monthly active users at the beginning of this year.

This free feature makes Gemini more accessible. However, the way it works still relies on users' permission to access Google services connected to their accounts.
