JAKARTA - Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid confirmed that the video uploaded by the Chairman of the Ummat Party Syura Council, Amien Rais on social media was not true or hoaxes.

"The narrative that was built was an attempt to degrade the dignity of the Supreme State Leader, has no factual basis and is part of a provocation to create public uproar. This has the potential to divide the nation," Meutya said in his official statement on Friday, May 1.
He also stated that he would take steps in accordance with applicable laws. Anyone who knowingly makes and participates in distributing and/or transmitting the video has committed a legal violation as stipulated in Law No. 1 of 2024 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Article 27A and Article 28 (2).
"The government together with all elements of society is committed to encouraging digital literacy and ensuring that freedom of expression goes hand in hand with responsibility," concluded Meutya.
Previously, Amien Rais uploaded a short video lasting 8 minutes on his personal YouTube channel on Thursday, May 30.
Through the video, Amien threw a statement where Prabowo's closeness to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya was far from the limits of professionalism, but rather a personal relationship.
"In short, without beating around the bush, I propose that Mr. Prabowo be a knight, firm, and convincing, that Prabowo get rid of his dangerous Teddy's ambush. So, replace Teddy with a normal figure who focuses on working for the nation and state," he said.
