JAKARTA, KOMPAS - Vivo is back in the spotlight after the latest leak showed the initial design and features of the Vivo X300 FE. This device is said to bring a more "serious" approach than the tradition of the FE series, which is usually a cost-saving version of the flagship.

Based on the leaked hands-on images, the device is seen supporting the Zeiss G2 teleconverter external camera accessory. The accessory is mounted through a special casing and clamps the rear camera module, allowing a significant increase in optical zoom capabilities.

Interestingly, features like this are usually only available in the main flagship line, not on the FE variant. This makes the X300 FE look like a "flagship with a discount taste", not just a frugal version.

In terms of design, the green color variant is said to be exclusive to the Indian market, while other options such as purple and black are also prepared. This display gives the impression that Vivo is starting to play more aggressively in the mid-premium segment.

In the performance sector, this device is rumored to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, making it one of Vivo's first FE phones to use a flagship-class chip. The screen uses a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1,5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

For the camera, the configuration carried consists of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Although not extreme, this combination is still competitive for its class, especially with the support of an additional Zeiss G2 lens.

The battery is quite large, namely 6,500mAh with 90W fast charging. The operating system will immediately run OriginOS 6 when released.

The official launch is scheduled to take place in India on May 7, along with the X300 Ultra, with sales starting May 14.

If this leak is accurate, Vivo seems to be shifting the meaning of "Fan Edition" from just a cheap version to a "flagship with minimal compromises" - and that could be a game changer in the increasingly hot mid-premium market.
