JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has decided to temporarily suspend the rating process for games through the Indonesia Rating Game System (IGRS) in its entirety.

Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Kemkomdigi, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, said his party was conducting an investigation and evaluation to find an objective and comprehensive finding.

"This team is working on tracing all aspects, from systems, processes, to management so that we get a truly objective and comprehensive finding," Sonny said in a press conference on Friday, April 17 in Jakarta.

Sonny also revealed that Komdigi is actively discussing with all actors in the gaming industry so that the policies made can really be implemented in the field.

"While waiting for all the investigation and evaluation processes to be completed, we have decided to temporarily suspend the overall IGRS rating process. I emphasize once again, this delay is only temporary," he said.

He emphasized that this delay was carried out to ensure that in the future the IGRS system could run much stronger, more credible and trustworthy by industry players.

Meanwhile, the President of the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) Shafiq Husein welcomed this postponement as an effort to open a wider space for communication between regulators and the game ecosystem.

He assessed that this evaluation is important so that the regulations that are drafted do not become a barrier, but rather encourage the growth of the national game industry.

"We hope that the Indonesian game industry can advance again with this. It is not a restriction. So we make sure that everything we make is in favor of the Indonesian game industry," said Shafiq.
