JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has partnered with a national startup based on artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen the handling of online gambling while improving the quality of information in the digital space.

When receiving an audience from the Gambit Hunter and Ambitious Lab startups, the Minister of Communication and Information, Meutya Hafid, assessed that their technology could present a new approach in eradicating online gambling through the use of AI.

"The innovations developed by Gambit Hunter and Ambitious Lab are concrete examples that Indonesian talents are not only users of technology, but are also able to create solutions based on artificial intelligence that are relevant to the needs of the nation," said Meutya.

According to him, the Gambit Hunter technology is able to identify and trace the payment infrastructure which is an important part of the illegal practice.

Meanwhile, other innovations from Ambitious Lab through the Ambitious News product are considered useful for addressing the challenge of maintaining the quality of information in the digital space.

"The initiative to develop an AI system to curate, verify and compare news from various trusted sources. This is an important step in strengthening a healthy information ecosystem," he said.

Meutya emphasized that these two innovations represent two important aspects of digital space governance, namely strengthening security and improving the quality of information and digital literacy of the community.

"The government in this case continues to encourage the development of AI through strengthening innovation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and the development of various use cases that have a direct impact on the community," he said.

Meutya hopes that the meeting will be the beginning of more concrete cooperation between the government and national startups, so that the innovation of the nation's children can have a wide and sustainable impact on the Indonesian people.
