JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital announced plans to select the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequency bands in 2026, as a step to expand fast internet access in Indonesia.

This radio frequency has the advantage of very wide signal coverage and the ability to penetrate solid physical barriers such as buildings so as to be able to improve the quality of mobile signals which are still relatively weak, both in outdoor and indoor conditions.
Radio Frequency Band 2.6 GHz: It is a mid-band radio frequency band that is ideal for supporting channel capacity and large-scale data transmission speeds such as 5G technology.
This radio frequency band is focused on accommodating high data traffic density in urban areas as well as providing a more stable high-speed mobile internet experience.
The selection process of users of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequency bands is part of the government's efforts to provide mobile broadband network internet access services (mobile broadband) with a minimum of 4G technology that is more equitable.
