JAKARTA - Sony Interactive Entertainment introduced a new community program called "The Playerbase" that allows fans to perform live in PlayStation Studios games.

The program starts with the opportunity for players to appear as characters in Gran Turismo 7, with plans to expand to other titles in the future.

"For more than 30 years, we have continued to find ways to celebrate our gaming community. Today, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to bring some of our most loyal PlayStation fans closer to the PlayStation experience," said Sony Interactive Entertainment's Vice President of Global Marketing, Isabelle Tomatis. in the official announcement.

He said that through this initiative, the selected players will have their face likeness scanned and be inserted directly into the game world.

The Playerbase registration opens from April 7, 2026 via the official PlayStation website. And it will only be available in certain markets in America, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.

During registration, participants are asked to answer a number of questions related to their experience playing PlayStation, logging in using a PlayStation account, and providing additional information for the selection process.

After that, Sony will select a number of finalists to take part in a video interview to explore their closeness to the PlayStation ecosystem. From there, one fan will be chosen to appear in Gran Turismo 7 as a portrait of a character in the game with a limited duration.

Not only that, the selected players will also be invited to design a special "Fantasy" logo as well as a unique vehicle livery design that will later be permanently added to the Showcase menu.

Not only appearing in the game, Sony revealed that the winner will also be invited to a visual arts studio in Los Angeles for the scanning and design collaboration process.

Sony says the program will be gradually expanded to other PlayStation Studios titles. Each game will feature fans with an approach tailored to the style and world of each game.

"The Playerbase is our way of saying thank you to the players who made PlayStation what it is today," Tomatis said in the official announcement.
