JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has sent a second summons to Google and Meta for not meeting the summons to examine compliance with child protection regulations in the digital space (PP TUNAS).
Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, said that the platform that hosts YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads had previously requested a delay on the grounds of internal coordination needs.
"We have received a request for rescheduling, so the obligation to fulfill the examination call has not been carried out," Alex said in an official statement on Thursday, April 2.
Alex emphasized that this second summons was a continuation of the process of enforcing compliance which could not be delayed.
Referring to Article 32 paragraph (2) of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 and Article 44 paragraph (2) of the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 9, the summons can be carried out up to a maximum of three times before the imposition of sanctions on the platform.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Communication and Information emphasized that compliance with child protection rules is not merely an administrative obligation, but a responsibility that has a direct impact on the safety of children in the digital space.
"Every delay prolongs the risks children face in the digital space. Therefore, we demand concrete and timely compliance from all platforms, including global platforms," he added.
Komdigi ensures that all stages of supervision will continue to run, including further steps if non-compliance continues.
"We expect good faith and concrete actions from every operator of electronic systems. A safe digital space for children is a shared responsibility, and compliance with regulations is part of that commitment," said Alex.
