Komdigi Tightens Cyber Patrol to Tangkal Hoaks in Digital Space Ahead of Eid

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has intensified cyber patrols and content monitoring, as a step to suppress free homecoming hoaxes that are rampant in the digital space ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, emphasized that this step is expected to detect and follow up the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, online fraud, and other negative content.

"Kemkomdigi has intensified cyber patrols and content assistance on various digital platforms to detect and follow up on the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, online fraud, and other negative content that has the potential to disrupt order and security during the Idulfitri period 1447 Hijriah," said Nezar.

The main focus of this supervision is to detect sensitive issues that often arise before and during Eid al-Fitr, such as false information related to holidays, homecoming, social assistance, and SARA issues that can divide the nation.

In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Information also implements a three-tier hoax handling strategy to handle circulating hoax issues.

"We are implementing a three-dimensional strategy, namely digital literacy to increase people's ability to distinguish between true and false information, then also detect and block hoax content quickly, and law enforcement working together with related authorities to crack down on hoax spreaders," he explained.

The Ministry of Communication and Information also collaborates with communities to help carry out an education and digital literacy campaign for the public regarding the dangers of hoaxes and the importance of verifying information.

He hopes that these steps can help create a safe, clean, and conducive digital space during the Idulfitri celebration so that people can celebrate this important moment calmly and comfortably.
