Garena officially closed the series of Garena Game Jam 3: Reinvent the Game, a 48-hour game creation competition that brought together 150 young Indonesian talents.

For 48 hours, participants in Garena Game Jam 3 were challenged to design, build, and present a playable game complete with gameplay concepts, visual assets, and character designs.

With the theme "Nothing Works as Expected" as the main challenge, Garena encourages participants to break the patterns and rules commonly encountered in game creation to produce a surprising, creative, and memorable gaming experience.

At this year's Garena Game Jam, participants managed to produce 37 games. All of the participants' works managed to steal the attention of the jury board from the Garena team and representatives of partners and the government who were present.

Of the 37 games born at Garena Game Jam 3, the Let Meow Out! game made by the Lelesasa team which contains students from the University of Indonesia managed to become the champion. Interestingly, this team has already participated in Garena Game Jam 2 in 2025 and managed to bring home the runner-up title.

Let Meow Out! is a puzzle platformer game. This game invites players to traverse various levels inspired by classic games such as Tetris, Mario Bros, and Street Fighter.

Here, players are challenged to complete each level of the game in an unexpected and unusual way. The game became the champion because it was considered to most represent the theme of "Nothing Works as Expected" through gameplay full of surprises and entertainment.

Following the Lelesasa team, the second and third place winners of the Garena Game Jam were won by the Potentially Functional team from the University of Indonesia with the game titled Fall Through and the Barista team from the Bandung Institute of Technology with the game titled Get Flagged!.

Meanwhile, the Most Creative Team award was given to Muhammad Daannii, a student at the Malang State Polytechnic who participated as a solo player with the work entitled No Cat Works as Expected.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Irene Umar, appreciates Garena Game Jam as a strategic initiative that is more than a competition.

According to him, the mentoring and checkpoint sessions with the Garena team from Indonesia and from abroad provide very important added value for participants.

"Here, friends get mentors and checkpoints not only from the developer's game, but also from various roles in the industry. Opportunities like this are very valuable and must be used as best as possible," said Irene.
