JAKARTA - In the company's performance report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, Take-Two Interactive Software confirmed that the development of the official Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 was temporarily halted.
Previously, the Switch version of Borderlands 4 2 was scheduled to launch on October 3, 2025, right after the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC versions released on September 12. However, the launch of the Switch 2 edition was suddenly postponed to an unannounced date.
"We've made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend development of the SKU," Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis told Variety, citing Gematsu.
Lewis explained that the company is now focusing on providing quality post-release content for players, as well as making various improvements to optimize the playing experience.
"Our focus remains on providing quality post-launch content for players and continuous improvements to optimize the game," he explained further.
However, the spokesperson emphasized that his party was still working closely with Nintendo and remained committed to bringing more titles to the Switch 2 platform in the future.
"We continue to collaborate with our friends at Nintendo. We also have PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K26 coming to Switch 2, and we're excited to bring more of our titles to that platform," he said.
Until now, Take-Two has not announced when the development of the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 will resume or its new release schedule.
