JAKARTA - Southeast Asian AI-native infrastructure provider, BDx Data Center, emphasizes the increasing importance of the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving Indonesia's GDP growth, as the level of national digital maturity increases.
According to BDx Data Center CEO Mayank Srivastava, entering the industrial AI era in 2026, data centers are no longer just storage facilities, but have evolved into high-performance computing infrastructure that supports digital sovereignty and national economies.
"AI is transforming from an exclusive corporate technology into an essential national infrastructure, equivalent to water and electricity in supporting the economy," Mayank said in his statement, quoted on Sunday, January 18.
BDx Data Center also identified a number of key trends that will shape the data center and AI landscape by 2026. One of them is the close relationship between energy and computing.
According to the company, the biggest challenge of AI development is no longer in software, but in the availability and energy efficiency to support large-scale computing loads.
From the technology side, the latest generation of hardware for data centers is estimated to require up to 150 kW per unit.
To answer this challenge, data center providers are advised to implement direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, which is claimed to be able to achieve data center energy efficiency levels.
In addition, BDx also emphasizes the importance of sovereign AI infrastructure in line with national data regulations, including Government Regulation Number 71 of 2019.
With a combination of strengthening energy infrastructure, high-performance data centers, and the exploration of quantum technology, BDx projects that AI will become the new backbone of Indonesia's digital economy.
